Other Focused Inspections
Other focused inspections, which take place on top of our planned inspection programme, can be driven by a particular event or line of enquiry based on professional judgement of the Chief Inspector. Inspections can also be carried out at the direction of Scottish Ministers.
Such inspections allow the Chief Inspector to have professional flexibility to focus on unplanned events that fall under the description of ‘significant incidents’ or areas of interest which may contribute towards:
- Providing assurance that the SFRS is performing in an efficient and effective manner and/or securing best value.
- Professional scrutiny on particular actions, policy and areas of interest regarding the SFRS, offering recommendations for improvements where appropriate.
- Providing assurance or offering recommendations to a range of stakeholders on a particular subject.
Examples of recent Focused Inspections are:
- A focused review on the operational impact of the SFRS’ decision to terminate contract to replace current command and control management system (CCMS).
- A focused review of contingency planning arrangements in relation to potential industrial action.
- Update Report on the SFRS's Planning and Preparation for exiting the EU
- COP26 Climate Change Conference November 2021 SFRS Preparedness
- 2021 - COVID Review Report
